A golfer became trapped beneath his golf cart in a creek at a Macomb Township golf course Thursday morning.

The man went into a creek at Sycamore Hills Golf Club on North Avenue in his golf cart to retrieve his ball. The vehicle flipped over on him and became stuck in the mud, the Macomb County Sheriff's Department said. The man's daughter was with him at the time, and held his head above water until help arrived, according to the sheriff's department.

A tow truck was expected to be brought to the creek to pull the cart off the man.

The victim's condition was not available.

The story lists him as 89 years and states he did drive the golf cart into the stream. He probably thought that the cart would be fine and drove in because it would much more difficult for him at his age to wade into the water to get the ball.

As far as I can ascertain, electric golf carts are not designed to go into any sort of deeper water under ANY circumstances! Maybe Mr. Magoo could have pulled something like this off in the cartoons, but it just sounds plain stupid to me!
