Plug didn't fit

I was getting ready to vacuum the carpet. Something had bent the prongs of the vacuum plug, they were bent outwards and too far apart to fit the outlet. I squeezed them together and tried again, no luck. Once more, nope. I gripped the prongs and while squeezing them together, plugged in the vaccum. Good thing there was nothing behind when I found out I can fly backwards...

This actually happened to me in 1976, (ok, it didn't just HAPPEN, I caused it to happen.) in Park Forest, IL. No witnesses thank goodness, but I did have another child after that - sorry.

Did something similar myself just today... so while I don't deny it's stupid, I do have to say it's far too common for comfort.

I'll go for a PA on this - it reminded me of a time when my Blazer's engine wouldn't stop after turning off the ignition. So I popped the hood and grabbed the distributor wire with my bare hand. When I woke up, I was sitting on the sidewalk about 5 feet away with my back to the wall and twitching.

And that's why I think our UK plugs are much safer - I'd like to see you manage to push them out of shape!!! But everyone else seems to be saying it's too common, so I guess I just don't use US plugs enough :)
