Not having a sleigh, 18 year old Kelvin and seven of his friends unmounted an orange impact protection pad from an iron tower, and used it as a sleigh.

The 8 sleighriders quickly found the protection pad a fast ride, and why it should have stayed on the iron tower in the first place.

At great speed, the sleigh first hit a security fence, before slamming in to the iron tower they had taken the impact procetion pad from in the first place.

18 year old Kevin was pronounced DOA. Another student was hurt too, but no bystanders were injured.

It's a moot point as to who was the driver and whether the passengers were "bystanders" or active participants, but I'm willing to let it slide (pun NOT intended!).

I'm listing this one as neutral because I find it mind-boggling that we should have two almost-identical occurrences. This exact same thing, but with only two passengers, happened years ago and actually was in the Darwin Awards book 2.

I think maybe there should be 2 awards on this. a DA for Kelvin and an honorable mention for the other student as they were both guilty of the same behaviour.

Wow - a second occurrence - Kelvin is obviously not a DA reader, otherwise he'd have known the dangers of taking the protective pads
