*Query for honorable mention due to the stupidity

It was July of 2005. My friends had decided that it would be fun to go camping. The day before, as well as the whole week before we went camping, had been torrential down pour. We had everything in order, except for the fire. So, being good little suburban campers, off my friends trecked to the Campers' Convience Mart to buy something to help start our fire.

When they came back, they had cans of butaine aerosol meant to refill lighters. We all figured that it would be safe to use because it was what the girl behind the counter had handed to my friends. So we started spraying down the rain soaked logs with the butaine. After a good 10 minutes of spraying, it came to a group consensus that the time to light the fire had approached. Mike handed me a lighter. I'd barely gotten 6 inches from the logs when a twelve foot fireball erupted. We were all thrown a few feet and sustained first, second and third degree burns. Luckily no one died or is terminally infertile, but all the same, it was a wildly stupid thing for us to believe that it was safe for to use a butaine aerosol to start a fire.

Where Darwin is concerned, ignorance is not aways an excuse.

The stupidity was definitely there, trusting a retail clerk for fire safety advice.
