Rebel Road

I work as a technical support representative for a computer company and have the privilege of talking to people all over the United States. One of our customers from South Carolina called in because we lost his computer somewhere (which is a story that belongs to a different award category all together). We got to talking and he told me this story. I don't know how true it is, but it seemed like your sort of thing so I guess I'll pass it along.
"I live on Rebel Road. We've got this problem keeping street signs, because of all the rednecks around here stealing them to hang up in their garages and stuff. So we decided to hang the sign about ten feet up a light pole, and then grease down the pole so they couldn't get up it.
That seemed to work for awhile, until one night someone decided to try to take the whole pole down by tying it to the back of their truck and pulling it down. They managed to get it down no problem... right on top of their truck."
The guy said no one got killed, but the guys in the truck were "really hurt bad". So I guess it doesn't qualify to win an Award, but it definately demonstrates the winning spirit. Submitted on 01/04/2005
