Gig cancelled after bassist saws himself out of tree

British Sea Power had to cancel a gig in High Wycombe after the bass player hurt himself falling out of a tree.

Hamilton was collecting branches to decorate the stage when he inadvertently sawed through the branch he was holding on to, reports NME.com.

He suffered a sprained wrist and the band were forced to cancel their show at Buckinghamshire Chiltern's Student Union.

A spokesperson for the band said: "The BSP man had skillfully scaled a Copper Beech to selectively prune a few branches for the purposes of stage decoration.

"The accident occurred when, in Harold Lloyd style, the boss man sawed through the branch he was hanging onto. The fall resulted in a badly-sprained wrist, which made playing impossible."

Support band The Killers still played the concert, winning the crowd over while British Sea Power watched from the wings, added the spokesperson.

Hamilton will have recovered in time to honour the band's forthcoming dates supporting The Strokes next month. For the remainder of the band's headline tour, sound engineer Joe Harling will stand in on bass.

Neutral: Honorable Mention
Humorous enough for an Honorable Mention, I think.

Maybe Toss: Honorable Mention
Rock n Roll stupidity is legion, as is the incidence of tree branch injury.

I like the part that 'The Killers' played the gig.I thought stage decorations were sorted out well in advance.

Greg said:
Maybe Toss: Too Common
Another type of stupidity that is too common for serious consideration, I'm afraid.

People sawing through the branches they are actually standing / sitting on is pretty rare, actually... and for that reason I'll grudgingly accept it.
