Stupid, yes, but drownings like this are just too common. Throwing back the life-jacket was also stupid, but not much more stupid than people who do not wear seat belts.

Couldn't verify it in the Austin or Houston newspapers, but I know the lake in question and parts of it do have lots and lots of rocks just under the surface.
