While working on his Demolition Derby car, Scott Blauert needed to get underneath the car, but instead of taking the time to raise it in a safe manner, he decided to lift it by hooking the bumper with his Skid-Steer loader and raising the car off the ground that way. While underneath the car, the bumper broke off of the Derby car and Blauert was subsequently crushed.

Man dies when derby car drops
A Detroit Lakes man was fatally injured in an accident at a rural Detroit Lakes residence Thursday.
Scot Blauert, 26, was underneath a demolition derby car that was being held up by a skid steer loader, according to the Becker County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff Tim Gordon said a piece of the car broke, causing the vehicle to fall on top of Blauert. The accident occurred around 7:54 p.m.
Several persons were assisting Blauert at the time of the incident. Gordon said they immediately contacted authorities.
Emergency medial personnel from Frazee and Detroit Lakes were dispatched to the scene, along with sheriff’s deputies.
Gordon said Blauert was transported by ambulance to St. Mary’s Regional Health Center in Detroit Lakes, where he later died.
