Perhaps with a jaunty wave and a sporty scarf whipping in the breeze, a New Jersey helicopter pilot took off into the wild blue yonder on Tuesday....only to slam his tethered craft sideways into the ground.

While, sadly, he neither killed himself or severed his penis, it is probable that his reproduction activities will be severely curtailed, either from his injured back, his unemployment, or his crushed self esteem.

Copter crashes near Six Flags

Thursday, July 31, 2003

Associated Press

A helicopter overturned on takeoff and crashed near Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park yesterday morning, slightly injuring the pilot.

The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. The helicopter took off from a heliport in Jackson Township adjacent to a parking lot that serves the Hurricane Harbor water park to spray the park for green flies, park spokeswoman Kristin Siebeneicher said.

A hose running from the helicopter was still connected to a supply truck when the pilot, Richard Swiat, attempted the takeoff, which caused the helicopter to flip over.
