NOTE LAST PARAGRAPH
A Slidell motorcyclist was killed Saturday when he ran into a cable stretched across the road by a truck trying to pull another truck out of a ditch, according to the St. Tammany Parrish Sheriff's Office.
The 47-year-old man, whose name was being withheld pending notification of his family, was
struck in the chest and head by the cable at Maplewood and Redwood streets in the St. Tam-
nany Garden subdivision near Slidell. The cable was attached to a winch on one of the trucks. The accident occurred just before 4 p.m.
The motorcyclist lost an arm upon impact, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Tiffany Tate said. He was pronounced dead at Slidell Memorial Hospital.
The drivers of both trucks fled, leaving the man's body in the street. They are being sought by police, Tate said.
Tate said witnesses told police that the motorcyclist had helped the driver of the winch truck attach the cable to the truck stuck
in the ditch.
