Blow torch?

y grandfather must have been born without the section of brain that houses common sense.
I could write an entire site about his escapades but unbelievably he survived them all.
On this particular day he excelled himself.
His car at the time was an old and dilapidated morris 1000 which needed some work.
He was in the process of putting fibreglass on the inside of the doors, when he looked at his watch and realised with consternation that it was taking longer to dry than he'd anticipated, and in order to make it to usual watering hole for opening time he'd have to speed up the process.
Whether he was preoccupied with other things I'm not entirley sure but at the point when common sense should prevail, it didn't.
Instead of getting a hairdryer or something without a naked flame he got the blowtorch, he then revved it up and set fire to the car ( with a full tank of petrol on the driveway right next to the house.)
There followed a series of head-scratching moments before the potential danger of the situation dawned on him and he began to sprint for cover, jumping over the neigbour's garden wall just as the flames reached the fuel tank, the people in the house next door were a little surprised to say the least as he flew past their living room window followed by a shower of glass from the car.
The repair bill for the car and front of his house was quite hefty, and he didn't make it to the pub that day, he sustained no injuries from the accident but my grandmother nearly killed him with the frying pan when she saw what he'd done to her house!!
