Teacher dies after eating half kg salt

Bolangir (Orissa), November 1: A primary school teacher, who accepted a bet from his friends, paid with his life after consuming half a kg of salt in one go.

Bhagirathi Dharua, 48, who used to teach at the Narayanpur primary school in Sonepur district, was shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Bolangir in a critical condition after he had consumed the packet of salt, police said.

He died on the Wednesday night.

Complaining of severe pain in the abdoment, he was first taken to the nearest Public Health Centre, police said.

Police had registered a case of unnatural death in this connection.
