Definitely a nominee for an honourable mention, although he might still die and be a full nominee... hopefully!!
A MAN has swallowed hydrochloric acid after allegedly being caught trying to steal an automatic teller machine (ATM) in Melbourne.
Police said the man was discovered by security guards attempting to steal the ATM with a forklift from The Glen shopping Centre about 10pm (AEDT).
He allegedly tried to escape on the forklift, but was stopped by the security guards.
A police spokeswoman said he then swallowed a quantity of hydrochloric acid.
The man was taken to Monash Medical Centre and remains in a critical condition. Submitted on 10/28/2002
