Loosing your head

I can't verify the accuracy of this account because I recieved it second hand.
I was in the navy from 1985 to 1990. Once again, I'm not sure if this actually happened or not, but considering some of the things I've read on Darwin it seems entirely possible.
There was this seaman who was on his first ship after graduating from bootcamp. He was working topside when someone asked him to get a bucket of seawater.
Since he didn't know there were areas topside where he could get it from, our ill fated Darwin candidate got a line and tied it to a pail then wound the other end around his arm.
He then proceeded to throw the pail over the side while the ship was doing 17 knots and the law of inertia took over and he was yanked fron the deck. I can't recall if they recovered his body or not.
