Someone who presumably thought that despite warnings on operating mobile phones when driving, there would be nothing wrong with operating a grenade...
JAKARTA (CBS.MW) -- A car that slammed into a lamppost between a U.S. embassy storage facility and the residence of a retired major in the Indonesian army caused an explosion Monday, killing a passenger.
The blast was most likely caused by a grenade, and occurred around 3:30 a.m. about a 15-minute to 20-minute drive from the U.S. embassy in Jakarta, CBS has learned.
The driver of the car was injured and arrested. He told local police that a passenger was training him how to use a grenade and instructed him, while driving, to unlock the grenade, sources told CBS.
The passenger was killed. Two other female passengers fled the car after the explosion.
