A Lefty Train

I will try and find out the reference to this incident as it happened a few years ago, in Montreal, Canada.
On my way back from work, I was angry to see that pass a station, the train suddenly stoped. We were eventually taken up by emergency busses for the rest of the ride.
Once I got home, I opened up my tv set to learn if anything could explain that painful delay. It happens that a car was hit by a train, just a little further then where we stoped.
the story in a nutshell: A pressing car driver was in a hurry to get home when the train track signals went on. Looking to his right, he saw the train (the one I was in) quite far away and press on crossing the tracks anyways and thus saving him precious seconds.
Little did he know that what made the light sgnals turn on was not the train to his right, but rather the one coming to his left. The guy died instantly.
Please, feel free to repharse as you whish. I tried to find a journal reference to this incident, but to no avail... yet ! Submitted on 09/06/2002
