"Slick" Oil Workers

(June 2002, South-Central Kansas)Jamie DeVore and Stephen Fischer were both oil workers...they were out in the field, doing routine work. Stephen's brother came out to the field to talk to him, and saw him lying on the ground, face down. Thinking he was asleep, his brother kicked him and told him to get up before rolling him over and seeing that he was dead. Jamie was nowhere to be found. He was later found in a bush roughly 50 feet from the oil rig. Upon investigation, it was found that the men were being VERY careless and had gotten an electrical wire wrapped around the drill when it was up in the air, and when they went to drive the drill again, it shocked them both, launching them both off of the rig. The wire was still wrapped around Jamie's leg. These men had been doing this job for quite awhile, and both knew that you're supposed to make sure the drill isn't caught on anything before you drive it. Because of their carelessness, numerous people quit their jobs because a new insurance was being taken out of each of their checks in case any of them had the stupidity to shock themselves on an oil rig. These Darwin-like deaths were very sad, yes...but let's just say these weren't the brightest crayons in the box to start with...then when you add big machinery they think "Big Truck...Big Balls" and they simply got REALLY stupid. At least neither of them had reproduced...
