Man found dead at gas station

A man was found dead at the bottom of an open gas pit that had been opened because of a suspected fuel leak. The owner of the station closed the station, and was returning the next morning when he discovered the body of a long time employee crouched in the bottom of the pit in the remaining fuel. Beside him was a 5 gallon bucket with a small amount of fuel in it, and an empty food tin. Apparently the man had returned during the night to steal fuel and was overcome by the fumes, despite his many years of working with the dangerous substance.
