I know that this story does not qualify for a Darwin Award but, I think that it qualifies for an Honorable Mention.
"Pretoria - A man who was "fishing" with dynamite in a stream near Hoedspruit in Limpopo (Northern Province) is in hospital with severe hand and face wounds after the explosive blew up on him.
Captain James Ngoepe said the men had found the dynamite in a hole near Hoedspruit. "We are investigating who might have put the dynamite there," he said.
Police discovered the man on Friday when members of the provincial dog unit were searching for a missing person in a woody area near Hoedspruit.
Ngoepe said: "They found two men carrying a blood-soaked friend. The men told the police they had been throwing dynamite into the water, then taking the dead fish home."
Ngoepe said the bomb disposal unit had taken the dynamite and defused four hand grenades.
The wounded man was admitted to Polokwane (Pietersburg) Hospital."
