Sorry in advance for probably inadequate translation, as I am Russian, not an English-speaking person. Unfortunately, the names of characters involved in that story were not mentioned. But, maybe, TV channel service could tell you.
Late at night, 29 July 2002, the inhabitants of Yuvieyna village, suburb of Lugansk, Ukraine,
awoke of the loud explosion.
That night 40-year old deputy of the local administration board went out walking with his dog, boxer breed. On the street he met a cadet of Lugansk police academy who accompanied two girls on their way home. Cadet made a
correct remark on the deputy's dog that walked without lead and muzzle on a public street. Men started to argue, and the deputy took a military RGD-5 hand grenade out of his pocket and threw it to the cadet's feet.
Eventually, dog came to be the fate of its master. Well-trained to run and take back things thrown by him, the dog immediately rushed and brought grenade back to the deputy. Deputy's pet was torn into pieces by explosion, and its master died soon afterwards in ambulance. Cadet was also wounded but stood alive, now he is at one of Lugansk hospitals.
Police is now investigating the case how it happened that the local deputy possessed a grenade in the country where it is forbidden for civilians to wear arms, and how much more weapons he had at home. Submitted on 08/07/2002
