Family Affair

As a young boy, I lived in a small town in Ontario (Canada) called Moonbeam. During my time there, three brothers all won Darwin Awards for their foolish behaviour. The first, in 1986 or 1987, dove into a pit without checking the water level first, he was paralyzed from the neck down. A few years later, the middle brother, in the middle of a snowstorm, decided to go for a ride... on a three wheeler!! While crossing an intersection, he was struck by an oncoming truck and killed. The next summer, the youngest brother, driving in a truck with two others spotted a crow on the shoulder of the highway and decided to try and hit it. Well, you can guess the result, he was ejected from the truck and was killed instantly. The other two in the vehicle survived. Truly tragic and unnecessary. Submitted on 08/02/2002
