Seemed like a good idea

This story takes place earlier this year, and involves myself, a friend, and a large quantity of alcohol (as many of these stories seem to).
After consuming the previously mentioned large quantity of alcohol at the university bar late one Thursday night, I and my friend proceeded to walk home. On the way through the grounds we spied what was clearly a landscaping work in progress, some of which consisted of large sandstone boulders.
You see, the university has this strange perspective that scattering these huge rectangular blocks of sandstone around the place will make the grounds look better. These three had yet to be placed, and as a result they were balanced on their end, pointing high up into the air at around 10 or 12 feet.
My friend and I caught on to the brilliant thought of tipping them over. I have no idea why.
The first block proved little trouble. Encouraged by early success, we continued. We came to the second block and decided that, for a bit of variety, one of us would stand on either side of it and proceed to rock it back and forth between us until it fell over.
A little too late I realised that this would result in the block falling onto one of us. Much too late, in fact.
With one final push, the block teetered over towards my friend. Convinced that I had somehow gained the strength of superman, I jumped up and latched onto the sandstone block, trying to pull it back. Due to the fact that I was dangling in the air with no purchase, I met with little success. My friend escaped alive and unharmed, a hair's breath away from gaining a Darwin Award, while I myself gained a fractured arm and multiple scrapes as the sandstone toppled over and flung me ahead with it!
