Professor chops fingers off
2003 Reader Submission

A reputedly rigid and chauvinistic professor of Fine Arts of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Madrid, Spain, Álvaro Paricio Latasa, gives one of his first lessons in engraving. He goes to the paper cutter/guillotine, and, looking at the students, says "now some of you -especially the females- are prone to distractions, so be careful with this!" He brings the cutter down... chopping off several of his own fingers.
He was lucky to be successfully re-implanted... and he didn't die. Submitted on 07/30/2002
