Why You Shouldn't Strip While Driving
By Cathryn Conroy, CompuServe News Editor
Twenty-year-old Marie Butler of Conway, South Carolina was driving to work on Thursday afternoon--while she was changing her clothes. That's right. She was driving and taking off clothing and putting on new clothing. Not surprisingly, she lost control of her automobile and caused a five-car collision on S.C. Route 90, reports Myrtle Beach's The Sun News. Three of the five drivers, including Butler, were taken to the hospital.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol told The Sun News that while Butler was changing her clothing, her 1998 Pontiac crossed the center line and glanced off the side of a 1994 pickup going the other way. Then Butler's car crashed head-on with a 1993 jeep, causing it to flip over. After this collision, her car hit an automobile that was traveling behind her. Finally, a fifth car on the other side of the road slid into the overturned jeep. The crash is still under investigation.
