Oxford Student in Crane Death Plunge.
An Oxford University student plunged 200ft to death after climbing a bulding site crane in a midnight dare.
Kai Dawson, 21, scaled the crane gantry then inched his way out to the end of the giant jib, egged on by pals after a boozy night out.
But then they vanished and his body was found 15 hours later.
Neighbors heard Kai shouting back down to his friends after he had scaled the jib, which towers over neighboring homes.
Then they heard a scream as Kai lost his grip and plummeted in the darkness. A tree broke his fall but he suffered multiple injuries as he landed in a garden.
After the scream an initial police search revealed nothing, but on Saturday afternoon a resident spotted a body and alerted police again.
Last night police appealed for the group of pals who were with Kai to come forward.
It was unclear whether they had left the scene with him still on the crane, or had run off in fear after he fell into the garden in Rectory Road, Oxford.
His tutor, Professor John Hunt, said yesterday that he was popular and brilliant member of the engineering facility.
