an killed on ride in Minsk's Gorky Park
insk, 10 July. A man in his forties was killed in Minsk's Gorky Park late on July 9 when he fell from a ride called Surprise, a giant centrifuge with belted seats that spins at high speed while also tilting from side to side.
The man, born 1959, was a ride attendant who went on the ride with two girls after the park closed for visitors.
Ignoring safety rules, he tried to move to another seat when the ride was in motion, but fell, sustaining fatal injuries, police officials told BelaPAN. The girls fled from the scene.
This is the first accident in the fifteen years since the ride was installed, and the victim himself was apparently to blame, commented the park's chief engineer, Viktor Zhiglenkov.
