This is a honorable mention
A FIRST-TIME flier almost downed a jet when he tried to open an emergency exit because he wanted to indulge in the time-honoured Chinese custom of spitting.
The China Southern Airlines plane had been in the air for only a minute after taking off from the southern city of Shenzhen when an emergency exit warning light started to flash.
Horrified flight attendants rushed to investigate and found a man trying to open the emergency door.
He had already opened the cover plate of the escape slide and was about to push the door open when a passenger stopped him and averted disaster by pulling him away.
After the scare, a stewardess asked him to explain his bizarre actions and the man told her he had wanted to spit.
He was later arrested when the plane landed in Shanghai.
