MILWAUKEE - One of the three men seriously injured when fumes from an automobile gasoline tank stored in a home ignited has died, police said.
They said Alvano Hernandez, 30, died Saturday at the St. Mary’s Hospital burn center.
Two other men, 27 and 35, who were also critically burned in the May 16 incident, are slowly improving, police said.
The three had removed the tank from a car and placed it in the basement of a south side Milwaukee home to repair it, authorities said.
Four others received minor injuries from the explosion.
Authorities said the fumes were ignited when someone in the home took a shower and the ignition device on the water heater kicked in.
