Lightning kills on a dare
SHREVEPORT, La. - N. Graves Thomas stood in a boat during a thunderstorm, raised his hands and proclaimed heavenward, "Here I am." Moments later a lightning bolt struck him dead, witnesses in the boat said. The lightning bolt struck Thomas, 40, a former state prosecutor and assistant U.S. attorney, in the head Monday aboard his new ski boat on Lake Bistineau. Authorities said they had no explanation for the lawyer's behavior, but friends said it was typical of his quirky nature. At the time of his death, Thomas had been representing a man accused of recklessness in a boating accident that killed three people.
