Heavy Bread

A friend of mine related this story about his Sister. Apparently she was surprised to see her mother defrosting a turkey in a sink of warm water prior to Christmas. (I must admit to knowing nothing about cooking, but assume this is a valid method).
Some days later she decided to cook a snack. Beans on toast. Finding no bread in the bread bin she removed a loaf from the top shelf of the families walk in freezer and procdeded to defrost it.
As you have probably already guessed she did this by the totally unconventional method of submerging the loaf (albeit in its plastic wrapping) in a basin of hot water. She very quickly realised that the plastic wrapper was not waterproof and the loaf became quite sodden. Realising the stupidity of the act she decided to hide the evidence......by placing the loaf back on the top shelf of teh freezer.
She may well have escaped detection if a few hours later her unsuspecting mother had not decided to remove the very same loaf from the freezer.
Her mother was somewhat surprised that the loaf seemed stuck to the shelf. Pulling hard the loaf became dislodged. Unfortunately the loaf now consisted of a few hundred grams of frozed bread and about 3 kilos of ice. This hit the mother squarely on the forehead knocking her to the ground.
Fortunately there was no lasting damage. My friend claims his mother was knocked out. Personally I disbelieve this. The story however has a ring of truth to it. Too bizarre to make up.
