VANCOUVER (CKNW/AM980) -- An apparently drunken dip in the Fraser (River) off Annacis Island last night has cost a 54 year old man his life.
Delta police say the victim had been drinking on the beach near the Naval Cadet training facility in the 500 block of Derwent Way, when he decided he could swim across Annacis Channel to Lulu Island.
As it turns out, he could not.
His companions found him washed up on the beach ... but were unable to revive him.
His name has not been released.
