DETROIT- Michigan State Police report that a 39 year old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at Detroit Receiving Hospital early one recent summer morning following an accident on his bike.
After entering a major construction zone on a highway bridge, the now-deceased cyclist ignored the orange barrels and rode into a closed lane on the highway. He crashed into a cable that had been used to suspend workers underneath the bridge and nearly decapitated himself. We note that another rider on a second bike managed to negotiate the zone without incident.
Given the increase in highway construction in recent years, the inability to comprehend the purpose of hundreds of orange barrels lining the way is a trait that should definitely be removed from the gene pool. Submitted on 06/24/2002
