From a Finnish tabloid magazine

(the story is in Finnish and the site has a free registration, sorry):
A student trying to get faster into a popular nightclub in Varkaus, Finland climbed to the roof
of the hotel where the nightclub was located and
fell down about 35 feet to the pavement, meeting
his destiny.
The student which was under the influence of alcohol climbed to the roof with his friends trying to get past the long queue to the night club using the door leading to the hotel at the top of the roof. The door was locked, forcing the student and his friends turn back. After this the student lost his balance and fell down to his death next to the queue.
There are two facts which make his death both vain and deliberate: first, if they would have made it
through the door, they would have only come to the hotel lobby where the receptionists would have thrown them out anyway. The night club is located at the basement and it is not possible to sneak in from the hotel.
Second, the hotel manager told the tabloid that the lowest steps of the fire ladder leading to the roof had been removed earlier due to similar but not fatal climbings, making it impossible for a normal person to climb up without any help.
Ah, the power of booze... some people are ready to take serious risks to get some more :) Submitted on 06/17/2002
