Fumigation company workers who were taking a tent off a house in Emerald Hills yesterday found the homeowner's body inside, authorities said.
It appeared that the man had entered his home while it was still filled with poisonous chemicals and died from the fumes, said George Dickason, medical examiner's investigator.
He identified the man as Clyde Douglas Breland, 49, who lived on 57th St. near Roswell Street.
Workers for D and F Fumigation Co. last saw Breland alive Thursday afternoon as they were putting a tent over the house, Dickason said. The workers returned at 2:30 p.m. yesterday and found Breland lying in a hall near the front door.
Dickason said Breland had a medical condition that may have contributed to his confusion about entering the house before it was safe. "He may not have realized the situation fully," Dickason said.
An autopsy was planned.
