My English Assignment
2003 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance
YOUR ENGLISH ASSIGNMENT: To either write (1) A Personal Account
of Nearly Tragic Stupidity, or (2) Describe your opinion and reasons
why WEBSENSE should not block the Darwin Awards, OR (3) write a book
review.
(1) I was always a bad kid and have tried to blame it on our family genes with no success. After all, I am the one who climbed the baby gate and fell down a flight of stairs. I also got my head stuck between the window bars at the bank (fire department required), stepped on my hand while chasing a cat and broke a couple of fingers, fell into a septic tank hole and cut my knee to the bone by landing on the only piece of sharp rock in a livingroom sized hole. I tied a towel to my neck and jumped off our roof, when I didn't fly, I figured it was because I wasn't going fast enough, so tried again, running as fast as I could. I climbed the power pole after a cat (different fire department) and carried a rattle snake home to show Mom the pretty diamonds on its back.
That was before I went to school and learned other ways to win a Darwin. Due to the fear that I would have kids like me, I had myself fixed when I was 19.
(2) I did an informal survey and everyone I asked, knew what a Darwin Award was, nobody knew what WEBSENSE was.
(3) You forgot to say how many words or pages for the book review. I just finished reading "Think like a Cat" and it was very informative. Last week I read the instruction manual for my new shotgun.
BTW, I haven't heard about the president's pretzel? Submitted on 06/15/2002
