Stealing power cables

Hi,
Story date: June 13, 2002 (today) afternoon (local time)
Location: Highway 1, Israel (approx 15mi east of Tel-Aviv)
edia reference: I saw the story in two separate local newsflash websites. Unfortunately they're in Hebrew, but for the record here are the specific newsflash URLs:
http://news.walla.co.il/ts.cgi?tsscript=item&path=1&id=239835
http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-1943274,00.html
The story (directly translated from the hebrew newsflash):
A man climbed an electric power pole near highway 1, not far from the Shapirim interchange, was electrified, fell, and died.
An emergency team was called to the spot and tried to revive him but failed, and he was declared dead.
Initial police investigation concludes that it appears that the man attempted to steal the wires.
His body was transferred to the nearby hospital and now an effort is made to identity him.
END OF STORY
y comment: I know the place where it happened, it's a major power line that runs in the fields beside the highway for several miles at that area. The power grid poles there are huge.
This is definitely not a case of being accidently electrified by an exposed wire at home or something like that.
This guy proved that in the year 2002 there are still people in the modern world who are not aware of the danger in climbing electric power poles.
This is surely not a deliberate suicide either, because he could commit suicide closer to home, or simply at the nearby highway.
By doing so this adult human made himself a Darwin Award nominee.
Have a nice day
