Keeping the Awards
2003 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance
Dear Darwineers: I was horrified to learn that censurious agents were at work trying to block the site. It is absolutely necessary for my sanity - and lesson plans. I teach Psychology at St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. One of my classes revolves around normal and abnormal personality - and the Darwin Awards are used as part of each lesson. My students read the story and after the laughter dies down, they begin to analyze the personality and sugsequent behavior of the poor sods who have been selected out of the gene pool. It is true that stupidy kills, but it also is a time-honored teaching tool. As I stood by the "tomb" of Darwin in the floor of Westminster Abbey in London, I was struck by the insight he gave the world, and of its continued relevance. Charle would be amused by your site, and your insight. Keep up the good work and send me my fish and mug. Regards, Lori Secouler-Beaudry, Ph.D. (a highly evolved professor)Submitted on 06/11/2002
