an in critical condition after riding atop train
An Abington man was in critical condition in the burn unit of Temple University
Hospital after touching SEPTA wires yesterday while waving to friends as he rode
atop a CSX train in Cheltenham, police said.
The man, Christopher Brown, of the 1400 block of St. John's Road, apparently
climbed atop a CSX train near SEPTA's Glenside Station, and was riding it toward
Limekiln Pike shortly after 1 a.m. yesterday, Cheltenham police said.
Police said witnesses reported that Brown waved at them from the train,
accidentally hitting SEPTA wires. Witnesses saw a blinding flash and Brown's
clothes catch fire, and then saw him fall off the train, police said. Submitted on 06/06/2002
