At the drop of a hat

Just outside Wichita, Kansas, a 21 year old farmboy with a very low IQ was driving a grain harvester across his wheat field to collect wheat. This particular piece of farm equipment has huge rotating blades to cut down and collect wheat. Sometime during this process, the driver's cowboy hat was blown off by the wind and sent some distance in front of the blades. Thinking that the tractor was not moving fast enough to warrant stopping (or just not thinking at all), he jumped down, ran in front of the tractor to collect his hat, which was still being blown around by the wind, and after chasing it for a bit, he finally caught up with it. However, by that point, the harvester had caught up with him, and his body was found scattered across the wheat field.Submitted on 05/19/2002
