Shot Putt

Keswick, England. When I was in school, I was the geeky, bookstuding type. But in the summer we all had to get outside in our shorts and vest and do atheletics. One week, we were doing shot putt. We had all finished putting and a boy called Matthew Brown (not the cleverest of people) decided that he was going to play football with a shot. First he began by kicking it along the floor, but this soon turned into his mates daring him into heading the shot. This he did and gave himself a concussion and several days in hospital. I caught up with him a few years ago at a reunion and he now cannot see out of his left eye because of a dislodged retina (I don't know if this has anything to do with his escapade with the shot!).Submitted on 05/16/2002
