Canadian "BASE" jumper

2003 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

Seems a Canadian visiting Anchorage attempted, after consuming several beers, to BASE jump from a 117+/- foot building. The parachute opened nanoseconds after his body hit the ground (kind of a "Whiley Coyote" thing). The jumper was a experienced sky diver who was, and I quote "new to the sport of BASE jumping"...slight details...BASE jumpers never jump from something less then 200 ft, use a specially packed 'chute and do not usually attempt it after drinking! This fellow survived, but we can only hope that he never reproduces.... The "media" story can be found at www.adn.com

It can't be found there unless I subscribe to an Alaskan newspaper, and trust me, life's too short for that.
