My dad kept a kerosene can in the garage, my buddy Ron had several cans of tennis balls. One night we put the two together.
We had actually been doing this for several nights, one night we dipped a tennis ball in the kerosene can, took it down the block to a neighbors house who was having a barbaque in the back yard. I ran around to the next block and weighted with a tennis racket in hand while Ron went to the front yard of this neighbors house. Ron lights the tennis ball while it sits on his tennis racket bounces it once and smacks it over the neighbors house and over the house behind his to were i'm weighting. I see the flaming fire ball coming and smack it back over the two houses again. Ron lets the firey ball go and runs it down into a another yard rolled it away from anything that could catch fire and run's away.
No harm done, we tell friends about the escaped and the following night we have a good sized group of guys with us.
Now i had stuck two balls in the kerosene can the night before and we only needed one of them.
We went back and got the other one I should of realized there was something wrong with it the ball weighed alot more. It seems as though some of the kerosene had soked into the ball a bit, but i said nothing about it and don't recall even thinking about it until later.
We went to a place we called the warehouse it was a huge building with a big asphalt parking area. The building was abandoned.
Ron takes his Tennis racket and holds it out for me to set the tennis ball upon it. I do and then I stand back as Ron lights the ball. Ron then flips the ball into the air and as it comes back down, Ron does his best Jimmy Conners serve at the side of the building.
KABOOM! Ron disappears into a fireball that is about 15 feet wide and high.
Ron was singed smelled of kerosene and burnt hair for a few days, but otherwise he was fine.
I guess we are guilty of continueing the gene pool though. we both have kids now. and this is one story I don't think we'll ever tell them about. We were about 14 years old when it happened.
Hope you Enjoyed the story though
