GAS LEAK DETECTION

2003 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

While this individual has not quite managed to purge the gene pool of some seriously damaged genetics, I am convinced that he will manage the task before too long. One day while discussing various things with a number of coworkers one of them mentioned that he thought he had a gas leak but could not find one. He then elaborated on his technique: a lit lighter waved around the area where he expected a leak to be takin place. This is near some gas pipes that fed his heating system. He failed to grasp what was so funny to everyone. To this day fails to accept that he did anything wrong and is likely to employ the same technique in the future. At another time we found him dumping hot coals into a trash container because they 'weren't lit anymore.' We drowned the coals in water creating a temporary smoke cloud but at least the trash did not ignite.

Neutral: Personal Account
A bit thin, and quite common.

Alex said:
Definitely Keep: Personal Account
The fact that to this day he does not see he did anything wrong merits keeping this story.

Neutral: Personal Account
Carelessness with fire, but is it *astounding* carelessness?

Neutral: Too Common
Definitely stupid! I'm waiting for him to qualify through self-selection
