I was watching The Learning Channel's special Medicine show (unsure of title), and i was amazed by this young woman's near self demise.
hopeing to impress her boyfriend, a young woman baught a semi-automatic handgun as a gift. she received no special training and imediatly loaded the gun and placed it in her glove compartment. when she arrived at her boyfriend's house, she reached into the glove compartment and tried to extract the gun by pulling on it from the barrel. the trigger caught on something and the gun went off in her hand, destroying most of it. the bullet grazed her face and was millimeters from directly hitting her head.
at the emergency room, under heavy sedation, the young woman tried to explain how much she loved her boyfriend while a surgeon surveyed her grosumly damagedhand.
the show followed the woman into surgery, but i was too overwhelmed by the image of her hand splayed open to continue watching.
i think this one deserves an honerable mention. Submitted on 03/06/02
