Thawing Gas Tank With Liter

There was no death in this story and a major disaster was avoided, so this will just be an honorable mention, but this young man is a great candidate for a future winner. About a year ago, in the winter I was at a very busy gas station waiting in line for the next pump, well a young man in front of me pulls up to the pump and gets out getting ready to fill up his vehicle. But to his dismay his gas tank cover is frozen shut, I watched him try to pop it open with his key and finger with no luck. So right there in front of the pump he pulls out a liter and begins to melt the ice surrounding his gas tank!! I jumped out of my car and advised him, that there is flammable material surrounding him, but he just look blankly and said, "its OK, my tank is empty!!" I couldn't believe my ears, so I told him what I thought was common knowledge about the gas fumes being able to ignite quite easily, and to wait a second while I go get some hot water from inside the store. I went inside and told the story to the clerk who let me get a cup of hot water all the while shaking his head in disbelief of the young man, and considering how close his entire business could have been destroyed.
