PALM BAY- A 75 year-old Melbourne Beach man accidentally shot off his toe while resting a 12-guage shotgun on his boot a private firing range Sunday morning, police said.
The shooting happened at 11.48am on the private side of the Port Malabar Gun Club at the trap range where participants practice firing at clay disks said Lt. Dave crispin, a watch commander with the Palm Bay Police Department.
Police said Joseph T. Anfuso had stepped away from the firing line and rested the shotgun on his right boot when the weapon discharged.
"The shot tood off a toe and he was given emergency medical treatment at Holmes. It's all consistent with an accident," Crispin said.
It was not immediately known whether doctors would be able to reattach the toe.
