Burns treatment for 30 people in hot coals motivation mystery
The Horizons golf resort at Salamander Bay says it has no idea how a motivational team building exercise went wrong yesterday afternoon.
A total of 11 ambulances were sent to treat the 30 injured people for differing degrees of burns they suffered during a fire walk.
It was an activity planned by a motivational organisation for a private company.
Neither wish to be named.
Seven people were taken to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital, where they received treatment for superficial burns, another 13 were treated at a nearby clinic for minor burns and ambulance personnel assisted a further 10 at the resort with their injuries.
Horizon's marketing manager, Lisa Taylor, said at this stage neither the organisers of the exercise or the resort have an understanding of how the incident occurred.
Inquires into the incident are underway.
