Makes you wish they WERE drunk

I heard this story from my sister who goes to school in New York City.
Apparently late one night a cop pulled over a pickup truck full of college age men. The men were not intoxicated at all; they were not weaving, or speeding. Their taillights worked just fine. The car was not stolen, they had no outstanding tickets. The cop just had to pull them over to ask them a question. This certain experienced cop had seen just about everything, but not something that was as incredibly stupid as what these men were doing.
They had decided to tie a lawn chair to the back of the truck with a length of rope and were dragging one of their friends behind them down the street for several blocks while he was sitting in the chair. None of them seemed to realize the danger they had placed their friend in, and they insisted that they had broken no laws. When the exasperated cop asked them why they were doing this they replied, in all seriousness, "This is OUR anti-drug."
No one died, but I think one of these men will win a Darwin Award in the future. Submitted on 02/24/02
