Flying Stupidity

2012 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

http://dms.ntsb.gov/aviation/GenPDF.aspx?id=FTW94FA140&rpt=fi

Two guys were 'having fun' in a Cessna C-150, flying in a low pass, when the pilot notices the presence of a power line in front of them. He asked 'upper or below' and the other answers "upwards"... then the pilot pulls-up making the aircraft to get vertical toward sky near 90º up, making it entering a low altitude stall that was not recoverable.

Very supid, certainly.

April 30th, 1994. Near Arroyo City - TX

Definitely Toss: Bystanders Hurt
Despite the passenger apparently chiming in on the maneuver, it's ultimately the responsibility of the pilot to fly safely and in control at all times. For that reason I consider the passenger to be a hurt bystander and the crash to be solely the responsibility of the pilot. Thanks just the same, Eugenio.

What Bruce said. The passenger made have said 'upper', but the pilot is the one who took 'upper' to the point where the plane stalled out.
