October 1806

WALES On Wednesday sennight, Tho WALES, a lad of 16 apprentice to Mr Cobb, bricklayer, in York, killed himself, in an experiment to try how long he could bear to be hung by the neck without suffocation. He was found suspended by a string, which was tied to a beam, wrapped once round his throat, and fastened to his thigh. The stool on which he appeared to have stood had unluckily slipped, and left him suspended without the power of untying himself. It appeared before the inquest, that the above apprentice and another boy had been trying experiments of the same sort on each other about three weeks before, till one of them was nearly suffocated ; and the practice has not been confined to them.

Thanks Roger, but we get lots of similar stories of teenagers and younger kids trying to simulate hangings and killing themselves as a result. Please submit aagain tho!

As Shadow said. Things like auto-erotic asphyxiation, etc. are extremely commonplace. Just google the term "choking game" and you'll find a huge amount of information about this sort of thing. Thanks just the same, Roger.
